Chicago to Stockholm, Sweden — $417 Round Trip on Icelandair!

Great Lakes Travel Deals — Thu, 15 Oct 2026 11:02:01 GMT

Here’s a fantastic spring deal to Scandinavia! Round-trip flights from Chicago to Stockholm, Sweden, are available for just $417 on Icelandair for travel in April. This route typically averages $600+ round trip, making this a great opportunity to explore one of Europe’s most beautiful capital cities at a significant discount.

✈️ PAID SUBSCRIBER EARLY ACCESS: This flight deal was sent to paid subscribers 2 hours before its broader release.

One interesting feature of this deal is an overnight layover in Reykjavik, Iceland. While an overnight connection might not appeal to everyone, it creates an opportunity to experience two countries for the price of one! Depending on your arrival and departure times, you’ll have enough time to explore Reykjavik, enjoy a meal, and get a taste of Iceland before continuing to Sweden. Prefer a shorter layover? Open one of the flights below and explore other options. I’m also seeing flights with shorter connections priced around $485 round trip.

April is a wonderful time to visit Stockholm as the city begins emerging from winter. Enjoy longer daylight hours, explore the cobblestone streets of Gamla Stan (Old Town), visit the famous Vasa Museum, or take a ferry through Stockholm’s beautiful archipelago. Reykjavik is equally interesting in April, with dramatic coastal scenery, geothermal pools, and the possibility of catching the northern lights early in the month.

Chicago to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil — $502 Round Trip on American Airlines!

Great Lakes Travel Deals — Wed, 30 Sep 2026 12:00:26 GMT

If Brazil has been on your travel list, this is a great opportunity. I found American Airlines flights from Chicago to Rio de Janeiro for $502 round trip for travel March through June. This route historically averages $800-plus, and the last time I saw pricing around this level was back in January 2026—making this one worth sharing.

✈️ PAID SUBSCRIBER EARLY ACCESS: This flight deal was sent to paid subscribers 2 hours before its broader release.

These dates take you from the end of Brazil’s summer into fall and early winter. March is still hot and humid, with average daytime highs around 86°F, while April generally brings highs in the low 80s. By May and June, highs average around the upper 70s, with cooler evenings and generally less rainfall. You can mix beach time with sightseeing, though March tends to be wetter and June can bring some cooler, cloudy days.

Rio offers a pretty incredible mix of beaches, mountains, and city life. Visit Christ the Redeemer for those iconic views over the city, ride the cable cars up Sugarloaf Mountain for a spectacular look at the coastline, and spend an afternoon enjoying Copacabana or Ipanema Beach. You could also explore Santa Teresa, with its art galleries, neighborhood restaurants, and nearby colorful Selarón Steps. Spread those outings across a week, leave plenty of time for Brazilian food and relaxing by the ocean, and you’ve got the makings of an unforgettable vacation.

Chicago to Iceland $399 Non-Stop Roundtrip!

Great Lakes Travel Deals — Sat, 19 Sep 2026 03:15:04 GMT

We shared this same amazing fare from Chicago to Iceland a few weeks ago, and it’s back — this time with new travel dates at just $399 roundtrip, nonstop! If the dates from our last post didn’t work for you, this is another chance to take advantage of an amazing fare!

Winter is a completely different way to experience Iceland. December through February bring some of the best opportunities to see the Northern Lights, while colder temperatures create seasonal experiences like glacier hikes and natural ice caves. You’ll also find fewer visitors at many of Iceland’s most popular attractions compared with the busy summer season.

Anytime we see nonstop Chicago-to-Iceland airfare for under $400 roundtrip, it’s simply too good not to share. At $399 roundtrip, this is fantastic opportunity to experience one of the most unique destinations in the world!

Great Lakes Travel Deals — Tue, 08 Sep 2026 11:06:23 GMT

Nonstop flights from Chicago to Reykjavik, Iceland are available on Icelandair for travel from October through the end of February priced at $399.

This is an excellent price for a nonstop flight to Iceland. This route typically runs $600+ roundtrip, making these discounted fares a great opportunity for a fall or winter trip.

✈️ PAID SUBSCRIBER EARLY ACCESS: This flight deal was sent to paid subscribers 2 hours before its broader release.

I’ve listed a number of discounted options below for travel October through December. The fare is also widely available in January and February—if those months work better, open one of the flights below and navigate around the calendar to find additional dates.

October still offers some decent daylight for exploring Iceland’s waterfalls, hot springs, black-sand beaches, and dramatic coastline. As you move deeper into winter, the days get shorter and colder, but Northern Lights season is in full swing, and Iceland’s geothermal pools are especially fun when there’s snow on the ground.

Whether you’re looking for a long weekend in Reykjavik or a longer road trip around the country, this is one of the better prices we’ve seen for Iceland in quite a while.
