Direct flights from Detroit to Baltimore have dropped to just $64 roundtrip this fall, matching the lowest prices I’ve seen on this route since February. At this price, it’s one of the better domestic weekend getaway opportunities currently available from Detroit.
Weekend trips are widely available throughout the fall, with longer vacations also possible by simply opening up the flight and expanding your travel dates.
If it were me, I’d book this flight simply as an excuse to spend a fall weekend on the Chesapeake Bay in Annapolis.
I’d walk the historic waterfront, explore the campus of the U.S. Naval Academy, and make multiple stops at Boatyard Bar & Grill for oysters, Maryland crab cakes, and a couple of Mango Cart beers.
The other reason I love this deal is that it offers a completely different way to experience the Washington, D.C. area. Many of us have core memories of visiting during the middle of summer—standing in long lines, navigating heavy crowds, and dealing with hot, humid weather. Fall brings crisp temperatures, colorful trees, and a much more enjoyable atmosphere for walking the National Mall, visiting the Smithsonian museums, touring monuments, or spending a day in Georgetown.
