Winter can be an incredible time to visit Tokyo and Japan. Tokyo itself is generally cool and relatively dry, with daytime temperatures often in the 40s and 50s°F. You’ll trade the cherry-blossom crowds for fewer tourists, crisp weather, winter illuminations, steaming bowls of ramen, and plenty of opportunities to warm up in an onsen.
