We found a fantastic international fare from Detroit to Tokyo starting at just $764 roundtrip, with nonstop flights on Delta. Discounted dates are available from December through February, giving you a chance to experience Japan during one of its quieter travel seasons.
It’s been a while since we’ve seen this route anywhere near this price. The last time we spotted Detroit-to-Tokyo fares at a similar level was back in January 2026, making $764 a deal worth sharing—especially for a nonstop flight all the way from Detroit.
Winter can be an incredible time to visit Tokyo and Japan. Tokyo itself is generally cool and relatively dry, with daytime temperatures often in the 40s and 50s°F. You’ll trade the cherry-blossom crowds for fewer tourists, crisp weather, winter illuminations, steaming bowls of ramen, and plenty of opportunities to warm up in an onsen. December also brings elaborate holiday light displays throughout Tokyo, while January and February tend to offer some of the clearest winter days and views of Mount Fuji.

And if you want to explore beyond Tokyo, winter opens up an entirely different side of Japan. Take the bullet train to Kyoto, visit the snow-covered villages of the Japanese Alps, see the famous snow monkeys in Nagano, or head north for some of the world’s legendary powder skiing. Japan combines incredible food, history, scenery, and one of the best rail systems in the world—making it surprisingly easy to turn a Tokyo flight deal into a much bigger adventure.
