Discover Split, Croatia: Fly from Detroit at Record Low Prices!
Hereβs some good news for travelers looking for an international flight from Detroit. Flying to the gorgeous city of Split in Croatia just got really cheap! This route has averaged $937 since I started tracking flights and the prior low on this route was $706, which I found in March of 2023. Right now flights can be found at $563 for travel in April, May, September, and October.
This might be an issue or an opportunity for travelers, but on the way back there is an overnight in Amsterdam. The flights land at 3:15pm so there is time to get into the city center for a meal or for some sightseeing, but the flights leave in the morning at 7:55 so that will be an early start. That's two international cities for the price of one if you can handle the logistics!
Once in Split, a city renowned for its blend of ancient history and modern life, here are the top five attractions you can't miss:
Diocletian's Palace
This ancient Roman palace isn't just a monument; it's a living part of the city. Tourists can wander through its labyrinthine streets, discovering shops, bars, and restaurants amid the old walls.
Vibrant Seaside Promenade
Split's Riva is the city's social heart, a bustling promenade with palm trees, waterfront cafes, and plenty of spots to relax and soak in the view of the harbor.
Beautiful Beaches
Split is home to several stunning beaches, including the famous sandy BaΔvice Beach, where locals play picigin, a traditional ball game.
Marjan Forest Park
A hill on the peninsula offers tourists a natural retreat with hiking trails, lookout points with panoramic views of the city and sea, and historical chapels scattered throughout the greenery.
Rich History and Culture
Beyond Diocletian's Palace, Split has a rich cultural scene with museums, galleries, and a vibrant nightlife. The city's historic core and its diverse cultural offerings are a draw for history buffs and party-goers alike.
Enjoy!
