Exciting New Nonstop Flights from Allegiant: Connecting Flint and Grand Rapids to More Destinations
Today Allegiant Air announced its expanding nonstop flight options from Flint Bishop International Airport (FNT) and Gerald R. Ford International Airport (GRR) in Grand Rapids. These new routes make it easier for Michiganders to explore vibrant cities, beautiful beaches, and exciting destinations across the U.S.
New Routes from Flint: Portland, Oregon, and Newark, New Jersey
Flint Bishop Airport is welcoming two exciting new nonstop routes from Allegiant:
Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR)
Portland International Airport (PDX)
Both routes are scheduled to launch on May 23, 2025, just in time for summer travel. Newark provides easy access to the bustling New York City area, while Portland offers the charm of the Pacific Northwest with its renowned coffee shops, outdoor adventures, and vibrant arts scene.
These routes represent a significant milestone for Flint travelers, reconnecting them to destinations like Newark that haven’t had direct service since 2017. Allegiant’s low-cost model and focus on leisure travelers make it a perfect fit for Bishop Airport, which already serves popular routes to Florida, Nashville, Las Vegas, and Phoenix/Mesa.
Grand Rapids Gains More Sunshine: Myrtle Beach and Jacksonville
In West Michigan, Gerald R. Ford International Airport is adding two new Allegiant routes to its growing list of nonstop destinations:
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (MYR) – perfect for family beach vacations and golf getaways.
Jacksonville, Florida (JAX) – a gateway to Florida’s coastline and warm winter escapes.
Flights to these sunny destinations are also set to begin in May 2025, adding to Allegiant’s existing offerings from Grand Rapids, which now include 18 nonstop cities. With these additions, GRR travelers will have direct access to over 30 destinations.
Why Allegiant’s Expansion Matters
Allegiant’s latest moves align with its mission to connect small and medium-sized cities to popular leisure destinations at affordable prices. These routes provide an economical way for Michigan travelers to explore the U.S. without the hassle of layovers or long drives to larger airports.
Flint Bishop Airport has been a vital partner for Allegiant since 2016 and serves as an aircraft and crew base.
Grand Rapids’ Ford Airport, West Michigan’s largest airport, continues to strengthen its status as a travel hub, offering direct flights to destinations across the country.
