I’ll be honest — I originally planned to make this a paid post because the value is that strong. But after digging into the details and pulling together the photos, I just couldn’t keep it behind the paywall. This one was too good not to share more broadly.

Flights from Toronto (YYZ) to Santiago, Chile (SCL) are now available starting at just $274 roundtrip for travel in April and May. That’s an exceptional price on a route that typically runs $550+, and it blows past the previous low of $318, which we saw back in May of 2025. For a long-haul flight to South America, this is rare territory — the kind of fare that makes you pause and start looking at your calendar.
These flights are available on Avianca, Colombia’s flag carrier and one of the oldest airlines in the world (founded in 1919). Avianca has an extensive network throughout Central and South America, making it a strong gateway carrier into the region. Most itineraries connect through Bogotá, and occasionally you can find longer layovers that allow you to explore a second city on the same ticket — a pretty incredible two-in-one opportunity if you’re up for the adventure.
Hopefully some of you can make these dates work, because at this price point, this looks like an unforgettable trip.
Why Santiago?
Santiago is a dynamic, modern capital framed by the Andes Mountains. Travelers love it for its vibrant food scene, walkable neighborhoods like Lastarria and Bellavista, and nearby wineries producing world-class Chilean reds. It’s also one of the few major cities in the world where you can see snow-capped peaks from downtown and be skiing or hiking within an hour.
What’s April & May Like?
April and May mark autumn in Chile, which means mild temperatures, fewer crowds, and beautiful fall colors in the vineyards and surrounding hills. Expect daytime highs generally in the 60s to low 70s in April, cooling into the 60s by May. It’s comfortable exploring weather — ideal for city walks, wine tasting, and day trips into the Andes.
Chile’s Global Draws — All Within Reach
Chile punches far above its weight when it comes to bucket-list experiences. From Santiago, you have relatively easy access to:
Patagonia (Torres del Paine National Park) — dramatic granite peaks, glaciers, and some of the best trekking in the world (a short domestic flight south).
The Atacama Desert — the driest desert on Earth, known for otherworldly landscapes and some of the clearest night skies anywhere (accessible via a quick flight north to Calama).
Valparaíso & the Pacific Coast — colorful hillside streets and ocean views just 1–2 hours from Santiago.
At $274 roundtrip, this is the kind of fare that opens the door to a continent many travelers have on their bucket list but rarely see priced this low. If Chile has been on your radar, this is a great opportunity to make it happen.
